What is your business name?
QDazzle(R) Website: www.QDazzleProm.com
Where are you located
Physically located in Montana (moved from Texas). Our High-Pigment Makeup Colors, along with our makeup instruction, illustrations and tips are available exclusively online.
How did you get started?
Jennifer Kalman, Commercial Makeup Artist, designed the www.QDazzleProm.com website as a teaching and guidance tool to be used as a continual makeup resource for pageant contestants. After 18+ years of doing makeup applications and personalized makeup lessons, she wanted to consolidate her knowledge so that it can be accessed online as an ongoing resource. In this manner, instead of the contestants having their makeup done for them once, they can practice and learn how to do it themselves for a 'professional' result. In other words, she wanted to be able to 'coach' contestants on their makeup application through her website, showing how to 'do-it-yourself'. For contestants entering several pageants a year, learning to do their own makeup for pageant enables them to have makeup knowledge usable for any occasion, saving them countless dollars on makeup artist fees. On her website, there are full color, printable makeup illustrations, using her QDazzle(R) high-pigment makeup colors, demonstrating specially-selected makeup colors to match the pageant gown colors. The contestants can also become a 'Make Me Dazzle' Club Member for special website access to advanced makeup tips and step-by-step application guidance for each product within the Dress Color Packages. Contestants can also talk with Jennifer on the 'Jennifer's Makeup Tips Blog..
Tell us a bit about yourself?
Commercial Makeup Artist, Jennifer Kalman, has 18+ years of experience applying makeup for thousands of proms, pageants, weddings and other special events, as well as for personalities, print media, TV and video. This expertise contributed to the development of the idea behind QDazzle(R). Jennifer desired to provide a resource to teach and coach women how to do their own makeup (knowledge they can use for a lifetime) rather than applying their makeup for them once….as well as provide an online resource for her highly-pigmented, camera-ready makeup colors. To read more about Jennifer's background, please see her bio.
What can we find at Q Dazzle?

You'll also find a goldmine of pageant makeup tips, instructions, and illustrations, which can all be accessed as an on-going resource for contestants. We also show how to coordinate your makeup colors to your gown with our specially-selected makeup Dress Color Packages.
How long have you been doing makeup?
I have an extensive background in makeup application of over 18 years. While I do not apply makeup on location anymore, my goal is to provide an online helpful resource for Pageant Contestants of all ages in which they can learn to refine their makeup skills with professionally-guided makeup instruction, illustrations, tips and High-Pigment Makeup Colors.
Whats your best makeup tip?
Oh, there are so many useful makeup tips...but I would have to say that my best tip to all pageant contestants about their makeup... is to have faith in yourself and practice, practice, practice to become more skilled at doing your own makeup since you, too, can achieve a 'professional' result, and once learned, these are makeup skills you can use for a lifetime!
If You could only have one cosmetic what couldn't you live without? What one cosmetic should any women never be without?
Only one? haha! Mascara is a popular response, but depending on the person, lip color and concealer are pretty important too!
What is a good stage makeup tip for our pageant ladies?
Become comfortable applying your own 'stage-ready' makeup using highly-pigmented makeup colors. Makeup colors that look best for photography and stage are usually highly-pigmented, meaning they contain strong color pigments and are not sheer. A highly-pigmented makeup color product will allow the user to apply a small amount to achieve a bit of color or it can provide darker, dramatic color when applied more heavily. This allows flexibility for the user to achieve her preferred look. Along with being longer-lasting, the strong color pigment in highly-pigmented makeup colors will hold up against the harsh lighting from cameras and stage lights (no washed-out, ghostly makeup looks).
What's your best advice for someone starting to learn makeup application??
Start with a foundation, concealer, and loose powder that is an exact match to your natural skintone (see my blog about how to select a foundation). For color, be sure to select high-pigment products, which will give more flexibility (for both natural and dramatic looks), plus they will show up better in photos and are longer-lasting. Use the pageant makeup tips blogs, illustrations and instructions on our website, www.QDazzleProm.com to guide you, then practice to refine your skills. Also available starting in February, for those who wish personalized makeup advice tailored specifically to them, I will be providing individual makeup guidance with personalized color selection.
What is your favorite music, television show, film, book, website?
I Enjoy all types of music, very little tv but do enjoy movies, and I love to curl up with a great book!
